This new BÜFA®-Firestop-Gelcoat-S 320 is a highly effective premium product with very high heat deflection temperature (HDT). It is free from styrene, melamine, and halogens.With this fire retardant gelcoat, outstanding fire retardant properties are achieved. The S 320 Gelcoat, when processed in a system, is the safest HL3 system on the market, including paint!The BÜFA®-Firestop-Gelcoat-S 320 can be combined with various fire retardant resins in a system for different processing methods (RTM, infusion, and HLU). BÜFA®-Firestop Gelcoats are products that reliably protect the UP resin behind laminates against flames. With a carefully selected combination of special flame retardant additives, these gelcoats achieve very high fire protection properties.

BÜFA®-Firestop Resins are flame-retardant, halogen-free products that are based on various polyester resins dissolved in styrene.
Processing options:
The BÜFA®-Firestop Resins are available for various processing options, including manual lamination, vacuum infusion and the RTM and RTM light injection processes. Product properties such as reactivity can be adjusted individually to meet customer requirements.

Our fire retardant range includes a wide selection of BÜFA®-Gelcoats, resins and reinforcement materials that match one another perfectly. As a system solution, this means that various standards can be met.
We offer a multitude of reinforcement, core and non-woven materials as part of the system solution for a wide range of fire safety requirements. Light weight, chemical inertness and good mechanical properties in the right direction are the most important factors when it comes to choosing reinforcement materials for various types of processing. Matching fibre reinforcement in the form of mats, fabrics/materials and combinations of the two in various densities are also available.
Combination:
For combination with the right resins, the glass fibres can be used as a powder mat, a cut mat, complex, direct or spray roving, roving fabric, an endless mat or fabric. Choose the right reinforcement material for your type of processing.
Fire safety system:

BÜFA®-Firestop-Liquid Mat is cobalt pre-accelerated, fibre-reinforced and filled with ATH. BÜFA®-Firestop-LIQUID MAT is characterised by its very good mechanical properties, in particular, with regard to impact resistance and elongation at break.
BÜFA®-Firestop-Liquid Mat is primarily used as a “liquid laminate” between the gelcoat and the glass mat. For moulded parts with sharp edges and complex geometry, it serves to smooth the contours. This is intended to ensure that, when constructing the laminate, the glass fibres are well positioned all over. This avoids the need to position the fibres and therefore the formation of cavities between the gelcoat and the laminate.
BÜFA®-Firestop Foaming Resin is a complete solution for the lightweight engineering industry based on RTM. It meets the fire safety standard EN45545-2 (HL2) in combination with BÜFA®-Firestop GC S 285. BÜFA®-Accelerator “Foaming Agent” must be used as the blowing agent, together with a peroxide such as Curox M-303.

BÜFA®-FireFox System
The Best Choice of Fire Retardant System
BÜFA®-FireFox is the premium system for manufacturing fire safety fibre-reinforced composite components in closed-system processes (e.g. RTM, infusion, injection processes). Individual components allow a multitude of possible combinations for very specific customer requirements.
One system component of BÜFA®-FireFox is BÜFA®-Foam Resin with integrated fire retardant for RTM applications. The advantages of unfilled lightweight systems are material savings and short cycle times. Hardly any reworking is required and low-emission, machine-controlled processing is possible. Product benefits such as noise damping and heat insulation also contribute to sustainability.
The BÜFA®-FireFox System is a guarantee of fire retardant composite components with outstanding mechanical properties with maximum stability and much higher tensile strength and resistance to heat deformation And of course, it meets the highest European and international fire safety standards, such as EN45545-2.

Saving lives with high-tech
Whether a component meets certain fire safety requirements or not depends on many factors. Layer thicknesses, composition and structure of the laminates, the nature and type of the paint – how the product behaves in a fire results from the complex interplay of all these components and cannot be simulated in a satisfactory way. A fire testing laboratory with powerful measuring devices is therefore required here – and the experience that BÜFA employees have gained over decades of practical testing.
The BÜFA Development department has, among other things, a cone calorimeter for measurements in accordance with ISO 5660, analyses of which provide extremely precise information about the material performance in other testing procedures. Machines for testing in accordance with German and international standards, such as DIN 5510, UIC 564-2, ISO 4589-2 (Limited Oxygen Index, LOI) and IMO 1006, round off the options – in turn just a small selection from the complete range of BÜFA tests for artificial resin products.
