BÜFA presents the new Firestop-Gelcoat-S 320 für composite components at InnoTrans 2024
Rastede, September 2024 - BÜFA Composite Systems introduces the new BÜFA®-Firestop-Gelcoat-S 320, an advanced and sustainable solution for fire protection in the rail vehicle industry. The innovative gelcoat will be officially presented at InnoTrans 2024 (September 24-27, Hall 3.1, Stand 310, Berlin).
The BÜFA®-Firestop-Gelcoat-S 320 offers outstanding fire retardant properties and meets the highest requirements, for example EN 45545-2, where it achieves classifications HL2 and HL3, making it ideal for safety-critical applications for interior and exterior components of rail vehicles in rail transport. A special feature is the highest heat deflection temperature (HDT) on the market. This enables us to meet the increasing requirements from countries with higher ambient temperatures and offer a reliable solution for use in demanding environments. In addition, the gelcoat offers the lowest MAHRE value measured with the Cone Calorimeter ISO 5660-1, resulting in significantly reduced heat release in case of fire.
This styrene-, melamine- and halogen-free product is not only high-performance, but also particularly sustainable. It is part of the BÜFA®-future product line and thus supports the growing demand for environmentally friendly solutions in the rail vehicle industry.
A particular advantage of BÜFA®-Firestop-Gelcoat-S 320 is its versatility: it can be used in various processes such as hand lay-up (HLU), resin transfer molding (RTM) and infusion in the production of composite components. The gelcoat offers optimal viscosity and thixotropy for easy and efficient application while providing solid mechanical strength. Thanks to its compatibility with BÜFA Tec machines, smooth processing can be ensured.
